Kereru - On the Move
It has been great to be back in the classroom and to see all our wonderful tamariki on the move with Athletics, Basketball, Miniball, 5 a side football and Touch.
In the classroom a number of our tamariki have been looking at spiders. this came about through discussions the year 5/6 group and I had about them and the resulting damage from a spider bite. We have linked this to our local curriculum through each student looking at different spiders native to this area. There have been some really good stories and facts discovered.
In Maths this week we were lucky to have Averil from the University of Otago modelling some maths to us and then supporting Miss Whitehead as we develop further our capacity in Maths teaching.
Through our physical education this week we have been looking at relating to others and how we show this in support and encouragement for teammates.
We also want to congratulate our athletes in Kereru who have qualified for events at Southland on Saturday 19th November. Congratulations to Jack S, Jack T, Issac, Giovanna, Iris, Emily, Dominique, Isla, Talia, Megan and Tara.
We have spent a lot of time this week preparing for the stalls for pet day. The tamariki are very excited and some really looking forward to the opportunity to dunk the teachers!
We hope everyone has a great weekend.
Nga mihi
Miss Whitehead and Miss Allison
