In a thrilling display of sportsmanship and skill, the Year 5/6 Dodgeball tournament took place, bringing together four schools for an action-packed day of competition.

Te Waka Unua School, the reigning champions, were back to defend their title against worthy adversaries – Te Huarahi Linwood Avenue School, Bromley School, and Whitau School. Organised by Steve from Kelly Sports and generously funded through Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa and Sports Canterbury, the event showcased the importance of physical activity, teamwork, and friendly competition.

The tournament kicked off with high energy and enthusiasm as teams from the participating schools geared up to demonstrate their dodgeball prowess. Throughout the matches, it was evident that each team had prepared diligently, displaying strategic gameplay and swift dodging skills. The spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition was palpable, with players showcasing their teamwork and determination in every throw and dodge.

As the day progressed, the intensity grew, and the semi-finals brought forth two fierce matchups: Te Huarahi Linwood Avenue School versus Bromley A, and Bromley B against Te Waka Unua School. The semi-finals were nail-bitingly close, demonstrating the remarkable progress and preparation that each team had put into the tournament.

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the final showdown between Bromley A and Te Huarahi Linwood Avenue School. The final match was a display of exceptional athleticism and quick reflexes, as players engaged in a game of dodgeball that went down to the wire. The match was so evenly matched that it could only be likened to a battle of Jedi versus Jedi, with both sides employing their dodgeball skills with precision and determination.

After an intense and thrilling final, Bromley A emerged victorious, securing the championship title in a hard-fought battle. Te Huarahi Linwood Avenue School displayed incredible sportsmanship and skill throughout the tournament, earning them a well-deserved second-place finish. Meanwhile, Bromley B also showcased their dodgeball prowess by securing the third-place position.
