World Vision Conference

Careers —

Over 70 Upper North Island Schools attended the World Vision Youth Conference.

The World Vision conference was held in Auckland at the Logan Campbell Centre on March 19th. We had four senior students attend this event in preparation for the 40 hour Famine coming up in June. The students have been given some great ideas for fundraising and will be out looking for sponsorship in Term 2. Three guest speakers gave very heartfelt talks about their experience as refugees and facing racism once settled in New Zealand.

This event took place just after the incident in Christchurch which meant a lot of content was changed to cover racism in a diverse New Zealand. It focused on supporting leadership from our Youth to change the world to be a better place and provided tools to do so. A fourth speaker was brought in to cover this topic from a Muslim perspective.

Zoe Rainbow, Jess Kok, Arabella Marshall and Brooke Waldram represented Tauhara College well under these pressing matters and are already planning to put the tools they learnt to good use. Zoe organised a Bake Sale on Thursday 21st March to fund raise for Christchurch. Funding aimed at victims families and Emergency services that were called out.
