The Year 13 Sport Science class went to Mount Maunganui for three days of surfing and risk management. The purpose of the trip was to assess and manage risks in a dangerous environment and the students had learnt about rips and other hazards before going. The class completed two sets of lessons and improved their skill level out of sight. Everyone was standing up by the end of the second day and catching some good waves. They also climbed the Mount to see the sun rise, went for dawn runs on the beach, swam, had bonfires, gathered pipi's, made sandcastles and generally had a good time!
