Life-long Learning - Gateway

Stephen McDonald —

Over the last few weeks of Term 2, many of our Gateway, Licence to Learn and staff have been involved in Life-long Learning and Career Pathway programmes.

Our staff and students attended a one-day First Aid course held here at school to qualify for their First Aid Certificate as well as earning Unit Standard credits. This qualification lasts for two years and increases everyone's ability and confidence to deal with first aid emergencies.

Five girls were invited to attend a "Girls in HiViz" day at Civtec in Hamilton on Friday the 17th June. They learnt to use diggers, tested water samples and discussed careers in the infrastructure and construction industry.

The day highlighted the awesome opportunities for our female students in these and related career pathways.

Gateway, Licence to Learn and the Careers Department continue to support our students on their chosen journey to a future beyond Tauhara College.
