Week 9 of this term the Manaakitanga group organized and ran a shave for a cure assembly. Shave for a Cure is an annual fundraising event led by Leukemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand.

Every year, individuals and groups across Aotearoa come together to raise funds which will support researching a cure for diseases affecting approximately 21,000 people in the country each year. This year we had an epic uptaking with 9 students, 2 teacher participants and numerous students and staff who bravely took on a wax strip to raise funds and awareness. 

We would like to give a special thank you to local hairdressers Katie Peters and Hannah Wade from Hair Mechanics for coming in and volunteering their time to shave our students and staff. 

So far $6,021.18 have been raised, if you would like to donate head to the Shave for a Cure website and search for Tauhara college.
