Rugby News

Iain Mutch —

Due to Covid 19 this is going to be a very different season for rugby.

Normally we play in the Bay of Plenty Secondary Schools competition. This year we will be playing a round robin competition with the other King Country secondary schools.

We will be playing Taupo nui-A-Tia, Tongariro, Taumarunui, Te Kuiti and Otorohonga.

Josh Standen of KKRU has kindly organised this for us and it has a number of benefits.

The travelling will not be as extensive with two of our competitors less than an hour away!

This type of competition will give the representative coaches a chance to see the boys playing with, and against, the players who will make up the representative squads moving into the future. Lastly it gives the players a good season playing against schools from our own area some who we never get the opportunity to play in competition.

We need your help!! We are short of a coach for the under 15/16 year old boys.

This was originally covered but due to the effects of Covid-19 and the subsequent restart of business, the parent can no longer take on the position of coach. If there is anyone who would be able to do this for us, as an individual or a team, could you please contact Mr Mutch at the college and we can help you help us!
