ANZAC Day Essay Competition 2022

Helen Edgecombe —

This is a competition run each year by the Taupo RSA Trust to promote the awareness and meaning of the ANZAC Day commemoration. It is offered to high schools in Taupo who each get to submit an entry.

This year the topic was: (Politics aside) Do New Zealand's Defence Alliances remain as relevant today as when they were initiated?

The competition this year was won by Harrison Pointon who is a Year 11 student at Tauhara College. Harrison was not able to deliver his essay at the ANZAC Day service due to Covid restrictions - instead he presented it at a Rotary meeting to an appreciative audience.

Congratulations to Harrison for this achievement, we are very proud.
