Reports

Ben Hancock —

All whānau should have received student reports by the end of this term.

The purpose of reporting at Tauhara College is to inform whānau and learners about their academic progress and Attitudes to Learning in order to plan for learners' next steps. This term’s reports will be a summary of five Attitudes to Learning indicating where your child is at beginning, often or consistently - see an explanation of the categories below. These Attitudes to Learning are the fundamental attributes that will be influencing a learner’s progress and ultimately their academic achievement. A more detailed and comprehensive report containing academic progress for yr 9-10 will be sent out at the end of Term 4.

You are able to monitor your child's academic progress in a variety of ways beyond our reporting schedule. This can be done through the school KAMAR App or the KAMAR Parent Portal on our website or via your child's Whanau Teacher. Please contact your child's Whānau Teacher for any queries on how to do this.

Beginning - the learner is beginning to recognise these learning behaviours and can express them with support and reminders.

Often - the learner can express these learning behaviours independently at times, however, they still need some support and reminders.

Consistently - the learner consistently expresses the learning behaviours without support and reminders.

Attitudes to Learning:

Using positive and Respectful Language

e.g. letting others have their say, listening to other people's opinions, encouraging others saying “hello”, “please” and “thank you”.

Collaborate and support the learning of others

e.g. Encouraging and supporting others, working with others to solve problems, helping others if they need help, not distracting others.

Using different strategies to make the most of the learning opportunities

e.g. asking questions, trying different ways to learn new things, thinking about better ways for them to learn things.

Having a positive attitude

e.g. being excited to try new things, being comfortable to ask questions, seeing their own mistakes as progress, being up for a challenge, being a self starter.

Managing themselves and their learning

e.g. bringing pens, pencils & stationery, completing tasks, managing distractions, using time in class for learning.
