A passion for acting!

TC —

Patrick Steadman-Harper has for the second year in a row been awarded automatic entry to the SGCNZ Shakespeare Course.

Patrick, now in Year 13, has been studying drama since Year 9. He has become accomplished in a range of different genres, but has developed a flair and passion for Shakespearean drama in particular.  This becomes very apparent when watching one of his performances.

This year, for Tauhara College's entry in the regional Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival, he played the part of Claudius in an extract from Hamlet. Every year one actor is selected from the range of performances for automatic entry in a series of workshops that top-performing secondary school actors from around the country are nominated for. In 2018 this was one of the highlight's of Patricks' year and he feels that he grew immeasurably as a actor through the experience. He was therefore delighted and honoured to again be selected for this place in 2019.

Patrick says that the regional competition, held at Taupō Nui A Tia College, was again of a very high standard and he is very excited to have this opportunity again in 2019. This is well deserved recognition of his effort and determination to achieve in acting at the highest level. Patrick will be travelling to Wellington later this term and we wish him all the very best for this.
