TAUHARA JUNIOR VOLLEYBALL BOP CHAMPS

T C —

TAUHARA•JUNIOR•VOLLEYBALL•BOP•CHAMPS. The Tauhara College Junior Girls Volleyball team recently attended the BOP Secondary Schools Volleyball Champs that were held over three weekends at Mt Maunganui. 28 girls and 19 boys teams from the BOP competed for the BOP title. The team played 12 games, won 5, lost 7… with a total of 12 sets won & 15 lost. Three losses hard fought to the last point of the deciding set. The team was initially seeded 24th having not played in this tournament for a number of years. After two weekends of grading and pool games on the third weekend they made it through to their group final playing off for 17th & 18th place. Unfortunately after having the best game of their tournament just an hour beforehand in their semi-final they were unable to keep their momentum going against a good Te Puke A team and lost their final. The team had great fun and good tough competition over the three weekends and came a way with a much better understanding of the game, greatly improved skills, and new friends that they made with some of the Te Puke A girls who they socialized with after their final. Tauhara College Volleyball will build towards the 2019 BOP “Senior” Secondary School Champs to also be held at Mt Maunganui at the end of Feb & beginning of March, followed by local comps and tournaments. If you are a Junior or Senior player interested in trialing for the Senior team to participate in next years tournament, please text Jason on 0272 915040 to register your interest.
