Kia ora whanau,

Kaua e rangiruatia te hāpai o te hoe; e kore tō tātou waka e ū ki uta‘
Do not lift the paddle out of unison or our canoe will never reach the shore.

This whakatauki is relevant to the journey we have taken so far this year, together we have worked to improve the educational outcomes and opportunities for our tamariki.

As Term 3 ends we reflect upon the epic journey we have been through this year. We have had to overcome a number of challenges this year, from the most significant building project we have ever had, to yet another COVID lockdown. It has been an eventful and challenging time for everyone. Staff, students and our community have shown what Tauharatanga is. The care, courage and commitment everyone has put in to support one another has been inspiring.

Term 3 welcomed stage 2 of our classrooms. This took a lot of pressure off our staff and students and allowed for a more settled learning environment. Next term the work on the Gym is planned to begin, this is scheduled to be completed before we return at the start of 2022. The Ministry has been working with us to develop our master plan for the next stage of our rebuild. We will be connecting with our community throughout this process.

Term 4 will mark another busy term for 2021. We will be back ready for classes to start from 8.45am on Monday 18 October 2021. I hope that all tamariki will take the opportunity over the break to rest up, Term 4 will be another busy one for everyone; NCEA exams and prize giving, and also to have some well earned free time with their friends and whanau

I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the staff, to thank our tamariki for another great term, and wish you all a restful break.

Nga mihi nui
