Womens Day

Jess Bradshaw and Grace Davies —

Our Combined Perspective - Jess Bradshaw and Grace Davies

On Monday 8th March, we were invited as college representative guests to attend the Enterprise International Women's Day Lunch - the day created to celebrate the achievements, contributions, and progress of both women and girls all around the globe.

There were opportunities to chat with inspirational women in our community such as Christine Rankin, Taupo’s deputy mayor, as well as indulge in lunch with these ladies. The event had three inspiring women in leadership positions speak at the lunch - Sarah Cowley, Jenny Rudd and Juliet Hull.

There were so many thought-provoking ideas that were highlighted, leaving us both excited and keen to embrace the many opportunities on offer, as women in leadership. To hear from three powerful women with such different attributes and achievements, yet the same motivation and end goal, created an empowered and uplifting environment. An important idea that stuck with us, was in all aspects of your life, while trusting your intuition, “feel the fear and do it anyway." This event has left us feeling empowered as women and we wish for International Women’s Day to become a larger celebrated day for all women and girls around the world that deserve great recognition.

We are looking forward to implementing all we learnt into the school community this year and carrying on the legacy of powerful women in leadership.
