Loves Me Not Programme - Tuesday 6th July, 2021

Pamela Carmichael —

With all the change that is currently taking place here at Tauhara College, it is great to see that one of our greatest achievements is able to go ahead for another year. Tauhara College has been running the Loves Me Not Programme for all our Year 12 students since 2016 and is now one of the leading schools in the whole of New Zealand.

This important programme promotes healthy relationships in our young people. It reinforces our school values of Care, Courage and Commitment and provides a useful context for learning. It also allows for opportunities to contribute to the wider community.

Unlike previous years, running the student workshops at school has not been an option this year. Therefore, we have had to find an alternative venue which has required additional funding. The workshops will be held at the Great Lakes Centre. Luckily our Taupo community has stepped up and it is thanks to the following contributions that we have been able to run the programme this year.

Tauhara College PTA - $1000

Taupo District Council $500

Soroptimists are also coming to the party by providing lunch.

Our thanks also go to the Sophie Elliot Foundation who started the ball rolling with $500.

The Loves Me Not programme is delivered by Tauhara teachers, Police officers and NGOs from local agencies and is a real community effort.

The agencies involved are: Te Whare Oranga Wairua – Maori Women's Refuge
