Kia ora everyone.
One of the many highlights about the start of any year is welcoming our students to school. For some this is a welcome for the first time and for others it is a welcome back. Either way, the inspiring thing about this time is seeing the enthusiasm and positive attitude that our students bring with them as they start the year. This is what makes working at Tauhara College so exciting.

With a new year comes new opportunities and experiences and I appreciate the way that our students have come back ready to make the most of these. It has been fantastic to welcome in a large cohort of new Year 9 students, and I again want to acknowledge the very positive way that they have started the year. Likewise, to students in other levels who have joined us this year, a warm welcome to your new school and to the community. This is a great place to be and I trust that you will soon feel contented and included as you make new friends and make the most of all of the opportunities that are available at Tauhara College.
The first four weeks have symbolised just how busy and vibrant this year is going to be. With events like Year 9 Hui, Athletics Day, Year 10 Water Skills complimenting what is happening in our classrooms, there is not going to be a shortage of opportunities and events to get involved in. Well done to everyone who is already making the most of these opportunities. Congratulations to all of our senior students for their fine NCEA results and qualifications from last year. It is very pleasing to see our results trending positively. While overall statistics are important and an indicator of the 'overall achievement health' of our school, far more important in my opinion are the individual results that highlight the successes and achievements of our students. Those individual stories or persistence and determination to succeed at the highest personal level are inspiring! So, thank you for joining us on this journey in 2019. Our commitment is that Tauhara College will play a crucial role in ensuring our students face their future with character and confidence by providing quality teaching and learning in a well resourced and responsive environment.

I wish you all the very best for the year ahead.

Warm regards,
Keith
