YES BOP Regional Finals - Olivia and Brooke Moore
Olivia Moore’s business 'Top That' has been awarded 1st place in the Bay of Plenty Regional YES (Young Enterprise Scheme) Finals. She will go onto the National Competition in Wellington on the 6th December to Pitch against the top 21 companies from around New Zealand. There were 900 companies involved in YES this year and making the top 21 teams is a fantastic achievement. Additionally, Olivia is likely to be the youngest contestant at only 15 years old and in Year 11. Students generally enter this competition in Year 12 when they are completing Level 2 Business Studies. As a sole-trader Olivia has had to research, experiment and work extremely hard to develop, produce and sell her amazing product. She has accomplished many of the goals she set for herself at the beginning of the year. Her product is now for sale in 3 businesses - Spacecraft, Raw Balance and Le Cafe Telephonique. Also you can visit her website and purchase from her online store https://topthat.thatgreenolive.com/. To create fabulous meals and add nutrition to your plate be sure to try one of Olivia’s 3 new flavours from her Top That range. Olivia’s twin sister Brooke also had success at the Regional Finals. She was the Runner up with her business Crema Calda and her amazing and innovative world first product - Hot Ice Cream. This is definitely another product to keep your eyes out for in the future. She aims to have it in production in early 2019.

Sport Waikato has recognised Tauhara College student Emma Billings for her valued contribution to the Turangi Swimming Club. Thirteen year old Emma is a talented member of the club. Her exceptional ability to teach and guide swimmers has this year seen her start coaching a group of 5-7 year old learner swimmers. Emma’s skill, initiative and caring and friendly manner has seen swimmers’ water confidence improve and their ability progress. Emma’s dedication and commitment were recently rewarded when she won the New Coach of the Year category at the Turangi Tongariro Sports Awards. The Turangi Swim Club will continue to encourage and provide coaching opportunities for Emma until she is old enough to gain her swim teacher’s qualification. She is a real asset and an exceptional role model who is quickly becoming an amazing new coach for the club.
