In June this year, a new Board was elected. Three Trustees were reappointed and three Trustees were new. Since this time, the Board has worked very hard to continue the implementation of systems and processes to ensure we are delivering a quality education for all students.

It is with a heavy heart that I write my last newsletter comment as Principal of this great school. Thank you for the opportunity to share this exciting, adventurous journey with you.

The student receiving this award has been highly involved in the Taupo Community and provided a worthy contribution to the community.

This award is presented to a student who has displayed the voluntary giving of time, enthusiasm and energy to the school community in a variety of fields ‘beyond the call of duty’.

This scholarship is awarded to a student who has achieved a standard of excellence in the field of visual and performing arts, both within the school and in the wider community.

This scholarship is awarded to the student who has participated and achieved at regional or national level while maintaining a high standard in their academic studies

Zoe has involved herself in a wide range of activities over her five years at Tauhara College. She is a long time member of the Kids Greening Taupo team, a member of the Loves-Me-not group and Deputy Canoe Leader for Arawa. She has taken on all these roles and given her best to them. On the sporting front Zoe has played netball for the past five years. In 2018 Zoe completed the CACTUS course and went on to be accepted in a student mentor role this year. Well done Zoe, you have truly made an excellent contribution to our school.

This award is celebrating a student who has excelled in technology and shows potential towards innovation and creativity.

The recipient of this award is a student of Maori descent who has achieved academic excellence and is aiming for tertiary education.

This award is presented to a student who is an excellent bicultural role model and someone who is able to ‘stand tall’ and ‘shine’ in a Bi-cultural setting.

This scholarship is in recognition of the students achievement and commitment to demonstrating vocational excellence in their chosen pathway

Since joining Tauhara College, Holly has maintained the highest standards both academically and personally. She is an empathetic student who consistently displays integrity in all that she does. Holly is a talented musician, and a member of the school band and choir. Holly has achieved all three Levels of NCEA with Excellence endorsements. Well done, Holly!

This scholarship is sponsored by the Tauhara College Student Council. It recognises any student who is going on to further education next year. A student who has been totally committed over their years at the college and has contributed to school life without seeking recognition.

This scholarship is awarded to a student leaving school who will be going on to an apprenticeship in the Trades Industry.

This scholarship is awarded to a student for diligence and excellence in academic studies.

Awarded to the student who intends to carry out further education in an Agricultural or Environmental based field.

These study grants are presented to students who are going on to study fulltime in any area of learning next year. The successful recipients have demonstrated themselves to be of outstanding character, including having qualities of integrity, diligence, commitment, and empathy.

Jaundre Pienaar at the Athletics Nationals with a bronze medal in high jump. He broke his pb and jumped an impressive 1.96m to gain third place in under-20 seniors. Well done!

We would like to acknowledge and farewell Vanessa McArthur and Harriet Filer, teachers in our Special Needs Unit. They leave Tauhara to take up new positions in our community. Vanessa will work as a Learning Support Coordinator and Harriet will teach at Hilltop School. Vanessa and Harriet have both been part time teachers in our Special Needs Unit and have worked itinerantly as specialist teachers in our local primary schools, under the Tauhara College umbrella. We would like to thank them for their contributions. They have both gone well beyond their expected duties. We wish them well.
