Kia ora e te whānau
Thank you for supporting our staff by making alternative arrangements for your tamariki yesterday as part of our Teacher Only Day. We attended the graduation ceremony for Te Ahu o Te Reo Maaori in Rotorua as a staff. All staff gave presentations about what they had learnt as a result of the last two terms of Professional Learning. We received graduation certificates and brought home prizes to share with our tamariki. Thank you to my amazing staff who attended two hour lessons each week for the past twenty weeks and attended five Teacher Only Days! (and this is on top of all their other commitments too!) I was so proud of all of you as I watched you stand together making your presentations to the group of 100 participants! As a school we will take the next two terms to practice and implement what we have learnt using Te Reo Māori with our tamariki and community.
Reports this term
As I mentioned earlier in the term, we are trialing a more "up-to-the-minute way" of reporting. The reports will be uploaded to See-Saw next Friday July 8th so please keep an eye out for these. You will need to connect to See-Saw to read about your child's progress. The Junior School will report about Art, our new entrant tamariki will have a literacy report. The middle school will report about mathematics. The senior school will report about mathematics and literacy.
Matariki Kai Night
Thank you to our amazing PTA, staff and community for a very successful time of Whakawhanaungatanga last Thursday night. All though it was cold, we had approximately 500 people who attended and although the main focus was to re-establish connections with our families following COVID-19, we managed to raise approximately $3,000.00 towards our Kapa Haka uniforms. If anyone knows of a good supplier please let us know. It would be awesome to have these sorted for the Taiopenga festival next term.
Staffing
Thank you to our parents for supporting our staffing shortages this term. It has been extremely difficult because of the second round of COVID and staffing shortages. Next term Whaea Holly will be on maternity leave until term 1 2023. Whaea Amy will be teaching room two next term. Whaea Emma-Jean is moving and so we are looking for another teacher to provide releases for senior management staff and classroom release for teachers. Unfortunately, we have no relievers at the moment, so we will try our best to ensure the split classes are ensuring that your child is continuing to build relationships with their split classroom teacher. We will be keeping our eyes and ears open for new relievers in Taupō.
Have a great weekend everyone
Ngaā mihi manahau
