Athletics Day Colour
The warm weather was just what we ordered to help make the day as successful as it was.
The day kicked off with the vocal chants of each Maunga group. Before the Juniors moved off to their activities and the Seniors to their rotations.
Shot put was a new addition to our school athletics and it was great to see the tamariki having a go, giving it their all.
The Juniors enjoyed a range of fun activities such as egg and spoon races, tyre flipping, sack races, water activity and of course an ice block station. Aside from the ice block station these activities encouraged the spirit of having a go and trying something new. As well as a wee bit of competitiveness.
The Seniors showcased their skills at each event they did. It was awesome to hear the cheers of support from whānau and their peers as the tamariki competed. This support help the children to strive to do their best.
One of the highlights of the day was the relay event, where athletes sprinted their hearts out. The cheers of their fellow tamariki filled the air, urging them to run as hard as they could.
This was a massive day and one that seemed to be enjoyed by all. As a school we are so grateful for the support that our community have given us to help make it successful. The PTA for buying the ice blocks, Taupo Athletics Club for the loan of equipment, Sue Maclean for her on going support of sport at Tauhara, Our Whānau and the most important
OUR TEACHERS.
