Group 1 Mi Camp Whakamaru – A Fun-Filled Adventure!

Mara Brown —

The senior students from Rooms 11 and 2 had an unforgettable experience at camp from Monday, 31st March to Wednesday, 2nd April. With sunshine gracing us for most of our stay, the children made the most of every moment before the cooler weather arrived on Wednesday, just in time for tidy-up day!

The camp was packed with exciting activities, including slug guns, archery, BMX biking, kayaking, swimming (including a relaxing spa pool), and a challenging confidence course. The children also enjoyed fun downtime activities such as volleyball, giant-sized chess, swing ball, handball, and joined in with some fun games run by adults. On the first day, they took part in Top Town challenges before cooling off with a refreshing swim in the lake.

Evenings at camp were just as enjoyable. The children worked on their activity books, roasted marshmallows around the campfire, and played a thrilling game of spotlight. By the second night, they had mastered the art of hiding—some even climbed trees and remained perfectly still to avoid being found!

We were well-fed throughout the camp with delicious breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, keeping everyone energized for the action-packed days. Best of all, the children demonstrated fantastic behaviour, settling into bed easily and sleeping well each night.

Camp truly felt like a whānau experience, with our amazing parent helpers making everything run smoothly. Their support was invaluable, and we couldn’t have done it without them. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this camp such a success.

Bring on next year’s adventure!
