Being the Adults We Hope Our Kids Will Be...

I often find myself reflecting on the incredible privilege of working in education, and can't help but feel that I have one of the greatest vocations in the world.

Every day, I reflect on how fortunate I am to collaborate with incredible individuals who are deeply committed to shaping the future. Together, we work to create a 'safe space' that is not only functional and purposeful but supportive, fun, and serves a moral purpose for a brighter tomorrow.

Our team shows incredible dedication every day! They consistently go the extra mile to meet the needs of our impressionable young learners. Often shelving whatever is going on in their own worlds to make a difference in the lives of our students. Their presence, recognition of personalised needs, and unwavering commitment are the cornerstones of our school community.

Equally inspiring are you... the supportive parents and whānau who partner with us on this journey. Your eagerness to ensure that your children reach their full potential, your willingness to get positively involved and support us in providing awesome opportunities is what motivates us all to be our best.  The  willingness of whanau to ask, "How can we best support your team to be great for our kids?" speaks volumes about your commitment to our collective mission.

However, the true stars of our school are your children. Their eagerness, excitement, and enthusiasm for learning are what makes this worthwhile.   When they arrive ready to connect, share their strengths, passions, and capabilities, eager to learn and engage - we feel that sense of achievement that the team (parents and teaching team) are achieving greatness.

In teaching children, we recognise that we are not just imparting knowledge but also modelling what it means to be lifelong learners and a great human. As Brene Brown aptly puts it, "There is immeasurable power in children watching adults practice self-kindness over berating or putting ourselves down when we fail or make mistakes." We understand that our actions speak louder than our words, and we strive to embody the values and behaviours we want our children to have.

As we continue on this journey together, let us remember the endless possibilities of our collective efforts. Every time we connect with others, show kindness, and demonstrate resilience and compassion, we are making a positive impact on the future. Our actions, no matter how small, have the power to shape the next generation in ways that are truly remarkable.

Thank you for partnering with us on this journey.
