Queenstown Resort College (QRC) - Tai Tokerau Trip
The Gateway cafe and culinary Level 3 programme crew visited the QRC campus in Paihia, Tai Tokerau.
Eighteen students attended the trip alongside Natasha Peddle and Maryann Grainger, spending two days exploring the campus and local tourist attractions.
The trip was a fantastic experience for students, with some flying on a plane for the first time. The students stayed on the campus, toured the facilities, attended workshops, and met with current students and TBC old boys Gordon Heke, Zion Ormsby, Nick Bielby, and Kalani Vieira-Gall.
QRC provides a range of diplomas in tourism and hospitality management, adventure tourism, leadership, and performance, with degree pathways to business management from the University of Otago.
Students got to tour some of the tourism destinations available in the Bay of Islands, including the jet boat and Fullers cruise, spending a full day on the water, visiting the hole in the rock, and visiting Russell.
Ten of the eighteen students who attended the trip have signed up to study with QRC next year. The Bay of Islands is a major national and international tourism destination, with world-class resorts, restaurants, and tourism operators, making Tai Tokerau a perfect place to study.
