On the 24th of May, 35 keen students met the Future Pathways team at 7am to head over to the mighty Waikato.

The University of Waikato's Open Day was a fantastic opportunity for students to explore the beautiful campus, tour the halls of residence, and get a taste of student life. 

Mini lectures ran throughout the day, with various topics such as university prep, bachelor subject overviews, and scholarship discussions. There were games, activities, and interactive stalls around the campus, and student debates such as whether eating people was ever legal. 

Attending open days is an important part of the university selection process. There are 8 major universities in New Zealand, and the open days are listed below:

• Auckland University: Saturday, 24th August
• Auckland University of Technology (AUT): Saturday 24th August
• Canterbury University: 30th August
• Lincoln University: Friday, 19th July
• Massey University: Wednesday, 7th August
• Victoria University: Friday, 23rd August
