Year 12 student, Harry Perry was recently selected to participate in a fully-funded Japanese Language & Culture Immersion Weekend. Harry shares his experience with us.

"The Immersion Weekend by organized by North Asia CAPE over Matariki and hosted by the University of Auckland.

Among the top 10 language learners in the country, I attended lectures, engaged in hour-long sessions speaking Japanese, practised calligraphy, and enjoyed delicious Japanese meals, green tea, and miso.

This experience significantly deepened my understanding of the Japanese language, cultural history, and the vital relationship between New Zealand and Japan.

I made new friends and valuable connections, which boosted my confidence in using Japanese daily and has opened up numerous opportunities for my future."
