Nau Mai – Welcome!
A huge warm welcome to all our International families, those who are brand new to the school this year and those who have returned. We were so please to see you all fit and well, full of smiles, and ready for the adventure of a lifetime. We have International students from South Korea, China and Spain and throughout the year we expect to welcome students from other places around the world.
At Tauriko School we pride ourselves on developing global citizens, so this is a wonderful opportunity to meet students from other countries and to experience different languages and cultures. The learning is reciprocal, in that we learn from our international students, while they in turn learn from us.
As part of making our students welcome, they are buddied up with classmates who support them to make friends, learn routines and participate in life at Tauriko School. We want to provide our international students with the total Tauriko experience which includes choosing to participate in sports teams, Hip Hop, Choir, Green Team and Kapa Haka. Great buddies and our Global Ambassadors are a vital part of this.
This year we are also looking to engage our international parents more, and help them to find their place at Tauriko School. We know that increased involvement in the school will enhance their experience in New Zealand, support them to learn English and show them how open, warm-hearted and genuinely kind we are. To support this initiative we are looking for some parents who have an interest in connecting with other cultures, who would be willing to buddy up with our international parents (mostly mums) to go for a walk around the Mount, go out for a tea or coffee or invite them to bring their kids over for a playdate. If this sounds like you (even a tiny bit) I would love to hear from you to see what we can arrange. I can be contacted by email lpalfrey@tauriko.school.nz

I reply that it begins in your own community.” - Kofi Annan
