Tall Poppies Cross Country

Jamie Paprzik —

On the 7th of June, the Tall Poppies went to Whakamarama to run their Cross Country with other Year 7 & 8 students from throughout our Cluster. Read on to find out who was a star on the day!

On the 7th June 2018 the Tall Poppies went to Whakamarama School for the Tall Poppies Cross Country. There were about five schools there, all from our Cluster.

When we got to Whakamarama we were earlier than we thought we would get there. We all started eating so we could get some energy for the race. It took ages for the intermediate races to start so we were allowed to play on the playground.

Before the Intermediate races started, we walked the track so we would know where to go.

Then the races started: the Year 7s were first. It was a 3km race. Georgia came 1st in the girls! Dylan came 5th in the boys. Charlotte MacDonald made it into the top ten in the Year 8 race too.

Sadly, Kaden hurt his ankle. Some of the Tall Poppies supported him across the line.

'I must say the Tall Poppies are a very kind and supportive group, so lovely to see.' Leah Rawson

We had a great time there and we can not wait to go back next year.
