Spotlight on Sport

Jolene Nelson —

Throughout the year, a number of grant applications have been made for new sports equipment and additional uniforms. Thanks to Pub Charity Ltd $6,000 of new equipment will be coming our way later this term!

This is not only great for our students during school time, but also great for our sports teams as we are able to replace and purchase some additional items that the teams have been short of.

Yummy Stickers

Thank you to all the families that sent in their yummy stickers. Over $200 of new balls will be coming schools way because of this! Such a simple thing does make a difference as although there has been grant success, having $200 on new balls, means there is $200 of the grant funds we can spend on other items for our students.

Please keep collecting these stickers and sending them in to the office as we will be making another submission in 2019.   For ease, they can be attached to the downloadable sheets found here.

Weetbix kids tryathlon

33 students have signed up so far for the Weetbix kids tryathon from Tauriko School.  That is awesome as is over double the number of entries from Tauriko School last year! It is great to see so many children wanting to give the event a go.

For those of you who still are thinking about entering your child, the tryathlon is a swim, bike, run event for those ages 7-15 years, and is being held on Sunday 25th November at Arataki Park, Mount Maunganui, with the swim at Baywave.

If you are interested in joining (as an individual or with two in a team), registrations are  open at https://tryathlon.co.nz/. Earlybird registrations have closed but online registrations are still open at this stage.   Last year the event did sell out prior so don't leave signing up too much longer.

Make sure you add that you are from Tauriko School so we know who has signed up from our school so we can be in touch a few days out from the event.
