Jo Te Whaiti — Oct 29, 2020

From Monday 14th to Friday 18th of September we celebrated Maori Language Week.

Māori Language week has been celebrated every year since 1975.

Te Wiki o te reo Maori is an opportunity to celebrate, promote and encourage the use of te reo Maori. Every minute of every hour of every day is a Māori language minute – we can choose to use te reo – every time we do, even just a ‘Kia ora!’ contributes to revitalisation.

Over the course of te wiki, we had activities taking place in classes and in break times. Putiputi were woven, waiata sung, pakiwaitara (traditional stories) were read and Maori arts and crafts completed. Special thanks to Mrs Palfrey and the other kaiako and tamariki who helped to run these events - tino pai to mahi!

We hope you enjoy our memories of te wiki.
