Tauriko Jumping Beans

Natalie van Dijk —

A couple of weeks ago we had two teams compete at the local Strictly Jump Jam competition.

We had a team of 14 Year 2 - 4 students compete in the Year 1 - 4 category and we also had a team of 12 competing in the Year 4 - 8 category. This competition is for students who have never competed in a live Jump Jam event before. Both these teams worked hard all term to perfect their routines and they certainly did Tauriko School proud.

Our Year 2 - 4 team took out 2nd place in their category, which was such an amazing result for this team. They also picked up an excellence award for Sportsmanship and two merit awards for Presentation and Technical Execution. We are going to enter this team into the next stage of the competition and if successful they will get to compete at the North Island Regional Competition later in the year.

Our Year 4 - 8 team (which was made up of only Year 4 -6 students) had tough competition in their section. One of the teams they competed against was made up completely of Year 8's. They certainly gave it their all and placed 6th in their category. They also picked up an excellence award for Sportsmanship and two merit awards for Presentation and Technical Execution.

Well done to both teams we are all very proud of you efforts and achievements. Also a huge congratulations to Esther Vos who won a voucher for being the best parent Jump Jammer. Kau mau te wehi - We're impressed!
