Market Day Success - Tall Poppies

Kayla Adlington & Zane Davy —

On Tuesday 3rd of July, the Tall Poppies had a market day to fundraise for robotics.

From cow rides to slime, we had a variety of stalls that were suitable for all to enjoy at our recent Market Day. We also made sure that it would be a day that the children of Tauriko School could have fun! We had food stalls, colouring-in competitions, slime, sausages and so much more.

It was a beautiful day. We were happy to see some members of the community coming up to support us. We had all worked so hard on these stalls and all the hard work had paid off! Altogether we raised over $1,700! Now we can buy some robots. We have researched so we can make a decision together on which robots we would like to buy.

We would like to thank our community for supporting us on the day. Special thanks to Redband for sponsoring one of the stalls. If your gummies have a hole in them or your jandals have broken, they are the brand to go to!

I thought it was a great way to show off our leadership skills. Also, I loved how not one stall was the same. - Kayla Adlington

In term two the Tall Poppies had a market day. Everyone had to get an idea of a topic and make something that they could sell to the rest of the school.

There were a wide range of things, from Slime, sausage sizzle, colouring in competition all the way to selling artwork. The most successful group was the slime group who raised roughly $260. When we did Market Day it started out with us all coming up with an idea and then giving ourselves a plan of how we are going to do it. I (Zane) did artwork prints so my order of prep was first creating my artwork, second I got together a thick printing paper, third I made prints of my artwork and gave prices for A4 and A3 sizes and fourth I made a shop front including prices and a raffle. - Zane Davy
