Carpark Procedures
As a community we are proud of the way we work together to ensure car park procedures are followed. This ensures all those using the car park are safe.
All those entering Tauriko School turn off SH29 into the Northern Access Road to Tauriko West. Traffic travel along this road and turn right into the school parking area entrance. A photo is below of the temporary intersection.
The carpark is used as below:
Staff park in the outer parking spaces. Please keep this free for staff.
Whanau and visitors park in the inner parking spaces.
All buses will use the bus bay area as marked above - no cars should park here.
There is NO PARKING in the "Kiss & Drop" area. This is a drop off and pick up space only. If you need to get out of your car to help students unload or load - please use visitor parking.
At busy drop off and pick up times in the morning and afternoon, cars will move slowly around the carpark and use both the "Kiss and Drop" area and visitor carparks. Using both spaces means easier flow at busy times.
Entrance to the school is through the gate as marked. This gate must be kept closed at all times after school starts for student safety. We have students who run and we need to keep them safe from the carpark.
Students at school prior to 7:45am wait with their bags in the shade area by the Performing Arts Centre (PAC). A bell will ring that enables them to go to class at 7:45am
Students are able to be inside classrooms from 7:45am if they are quiet. Please be aware that staff are preparing for the school day from the time they arrive and until 8:30am there is no supervision of students in the school.
All teachers are available, in classrooms, for students from 8:00am for "Connection Time".
Outside of pick up (from 2:30pm) and drop off times all students must be signed in and out through the school office. Adults signing out students will be given a red card which they will give to the classroom teacher. No teacher will release students prior to 2:30pm from their classroom without a red card. Please do not ask teachers to do this as they must follow Health and Safety procedures.
All late students must still report to the school office, sign in and obtain a late pass (yellow) before going to class. They may need support to reach the gate latch to come in from the carpark as the gate is closed from 8:30am
Safety Expectations:
All students must use the pedestrian crossings and footpaths to come into school at ALL times. We expect all whanau/parents to model this.
No students are able to load in or out of cars in areas where there are yellow lines. This makes visibility unsafe for students using crossings.
We ask that students enter and exit cars from the CURB SIDE side of the car only in the "Kiss & Drop" area. This keeps them safe from cars moving past in this space. This means thinking carefully about the side of the car child car seats are on.
Use the school carpark as intended with respect for everyone's safety
Ngā mihi mahana,
