Spotlight on Sport

Jolene Nelson —

A great big thanks to ANZ Courtside for providing our netball teams with some great new gear!

At this week's netball training,  a local ANZ branch manager provided our very excited year 5 and 6 netball girls with  new new balls, new ball bags, new bibs, aswell as some awesome training gear valued at over $1,000.

We are very lucky to have been successful with this grant application as there is always a lot of competition, so thank you ANZ!

Winter Sports

There are some great stories of students out there on the hockey turf and netball courts this season with all sports now well underway.    Do keep in mind our coaches, managers and umpires are volunteers who have put their hand up to lead our teams, so please be supportive of them.  We are especially lucky to have a number of teenagers umpiring and even coaching for us - but as parents we need to keep in mind, we all need to start somewhere and to be mindful of this on the sideline.

As always, please do get in touch if you have any queries throughout the season.

Junior Tough Guy and Gal Challenge

The Junior Tough Guy and Gal Challenge is coming to Tauranga for the first time this year - NZ's biggest mud run series!

All competitors receive a finishers medal, Hell Pizza voucher and the chance to experience the challenging obstacles at Bay Park and win spot prizes.

It is being held on the 13th and 14th August and is for Years 3-8 and the course options are 1.5km for Years 3-4 and 3km for Years 5-8.

For more information and to enter visit:

Although entries are not made through the school, attendance is encouraged as based on the adult challenges previously attended by some of our school parents, this is a great, fun event. If you don't have a preference over which day to sign up, can we suggest Tuesday 13th August - solely for the reason of encouraging as many Tauriko School students to attend on the same day to cheer each other along.

Yummy Stickers

Thanks to those who have been collecting Yummy stickers. Keep them coming in from your supermarket shopping fruit purchases.

Our collation of the Yummy cut-out labels from bags and individual Yummy apple stickers will be sent away in August so whenever you fill a sheet, just drop it into the office so it is out of your way. The more stickers and labels we collate, the more of a share of $200,000 in sports gear we will be able to be part of.

Sheets to place labels and stickers on are available for download here:
