Forest Discovery

Jo Te Whaiti —

The Tall Poppies headed up into McLaren's Falls park to take part in a Forest Discovery in our very own backyard.

On Thursday 21st of June, the Tall Poppy students took part in the Learning Through Discovery programme. This programme is coordinated by Tauranga City Council, and funded by the Ministry of Education as part of their commitment to Learning Experiences Outside the Classroom (LEOTC). There they participated in a Forest Discovery with exciting activities such as: pest management, forest ecosystem walk and bird survey techniques. They even learnt how to tell the age of a tree using measurement.

Thank you to those parents who helped with transport and supervision. We had a really lovely day.

Our Year 5&6 students are lucky enough to be able to complete a similar programme early next term. Notices have been sent home and need to be in as soon as possible. This is a neat day out for those parents considering supporting on the day.
