Netball @ Tauriko School

Kaye Barnett —

This year we had 8 Year 5 and 6 students play in the netball competition at the mount and 13 Year 1 - 4 students participate in netball skills and mini games at Bethlehem College.

Tauriko Aces Netball Team had an enjoyable netball season. They were a mixed Year 5 and 6 team and played in the Year 6 Grade. They won most of their games in the first round and moved up a grade in the second round. All the girls in Tauriko Aces showed great determination, sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the season. Their skill level improved immensely from the start of the season to the finish. The girls enjoyed themselves so much that they were very disappointed when it ended.

The Tauriko Year 3 & 4 netball team were treated to a professional season of skill-based training at the ANZFuture Ferns programme run by Bethlehem College. Each week the girls were shown a new essential technique, with fun games to learn the skill. These included such skills as pivoting, shooting, dodging and more. Then they had a chance to play against another team and put their new skill to test. Our girls really improved their netball knowledge over the season and developed some great team skills that will position them well for future netball seasons!
