It was finally here! After much anticipation, Dawn McMillan, a New Zealand author, was at Tauriko to talk to the Year 5 & 6 syndicate.
It was a great opportunity for us to experience seeing the work of Dawn. She has been an author for 20 years, having started writing at the age of 9. Dawn has written many books such as “Willy Woolly”, “Holly Socks”, “Mr Spears and His Hairy Ears” and “I Need a New Bum”. She read us two of her books and they were so amazing to hear.
Dawn read one of her clever books to us. It was called, ‘The Harmonica’. It was so relaxing to listen to. She also had a little buddy Fergus who was her listening buddy when she was reading her books aloud. Our own Fergus was very excited to meet the other Fergus.
After answering a few questions, Dawn donated a book to our school and a book to Tom Dyer whose name was drawn. What an incredible experience!
