Winter 7s

Tash Edhouse & Room 15 —

Last week the year 5 & 6 students competed against other Tauranga Schools in a range of winter sports.

West Cluster Soccer

On Friday our three West Cluster teams played at Morland Fox Park in Greerton. It was so exciting and we had such fun playing against our neighbouring schools.

Highlights:

  • Our Social team played so well and didn’t lose a game. Many scored goals and decided that they would like to play in a Saturday competition.

  • The Competitive Red team worked well as a team and were very supportive of each other.

  • The Competitive Blue team played Greenpark in the final and drew, therefore the came 1st equal.

  • The finals were so exciting - nail biting - with all of the supporters along the sideline screaming and cheering with enthusiasm.

  • The outstanding coaches who were dedicated and inspiring: Kelly Duffin, Paul Griffin and Steve Taylor!

  • All of our supportive parents, thank you for transporting, managing and coaching all of our teams - we had a blast!

The Hockey Tournament

I think that all the teams in the hockey tournament did extremely well! Especially the Tauriko Blues for their first time playing - you were a hard team to play against.

I personally had heaps of fun playing hockey - a sport I love, and looking around watching and supporting our other Tauriko students too.

Let’s get to the placing results! A very special “well done” must go to The Cats for winning the tournament. You are an extremely talented and driven team. Congratulations to The Titans for placing third in the competitive teams and

The Tornadoes for third in the social teams.

Well done to all of teams and thank you to our supportive parents - we couldn’t have done it without you.

West Cluster Winter Netball

We had the West Cluster Tournament on Friday. We felt very excited heading to the courts because we had been training every week in the lead up. Unfortunately, our Tauriko team lost our games but next year is another year, so watch this space!

Thank you to Lacey’s mum, Emma, for helping support our team

Touch Rugby

Our Touch rugby team felt excited heading to the Tournament. We felt pretty nervous when we saw our opposition but we were calm. We won one game and we felt like the All Blacks. Even though we lost our other games we were really proud. Now I want to play Touch for Summer Sports. Thank you to Mr Stanley and Gavin Dyer who coached us.

Basketball

The basketball tournament was held at Queen Elizabeth. We were exhausted because we played 6 whole games. Our team focus was working as a team, passing strategically, no ball hogging! We had a few wins which was exciting. Thank you to Kaye Barnett who coached our team for the entire season, and Jo Birt and Jo Nelson for supporting our team on the day.
