Tall Poppy News

Natalie van Dijk and Whaea Kim —

Welcome to the first of our newsletter articles that will come from the many activities our Tall Poppies get involved in.

This week we welcomed back some familiar faces and greeted some newcomers to our class (and country). We are very excited to be teaching the Year 7 and 8 students this year and have many opportunities lined up for them.

The students are extremely lucky to have two teachers in their class, Mrs van Dijk and Whaea Kim. If you haven't been to meet us yet please drop by anytime.

We have 53 students in the Tall Poppy class at the moment. We currently have two short stay international students, Max and Yubin, who are with us for the first four weeks. These students have buddies who have been a great help showing them the ropes. We have also welcomed 5 new students to our Tauriko School Community and know they will feel welcomed by our wonderful Tall Poppies.

As you may have noticed some new furniture has arrived in our class. This is because we are getting ready for our first technology sessions in Week 5 of this term. We are excited about this opportunity for our Year 7 and 8 students as we develop this new programme in 2020.

Please look out for Week Ahead emails and notices as we have quite a few trips planned this term (Swimming, Gate Pa, Grip Leadership Conference). As always we will need your support with this trips and couldn't do them without you.

We look forward to seeing you all at Learning Partnership meetings in Week 5.
