Update on latest PTA fundraising events

Megan Keatley —

Term 2 was a busy one for the PTA, read below about recent fundraising events and what is coming up!

2023 PTA BOGAN BINGO FINAL WORD

Thank you to each and every one of you who came along to the Tauriko School PTA Bogan Bingo night on Saturday 10th of June to support our fundraising efforts. I would also like to thank the wider Tauranga community who were also there in support. What an epic night it was!

We were very fortunate to be supported by so many Bay of Plenty businesses, who sponsored or donated items for the night. An event like this cannot happen without them and we thank them very much.

Bogan bingo was such a success that we raised over $7000 in profit. This is a huge step towards purchasing two new concrete table tennis tables for the school.

To get an event like this off the ground, it needs a team of committed, driven, proactive and hard-working PTA members. Thank you to Fionna, Karen, Monika, Lorna, Danielle, Sam, Kathryn, Sarah and Robyn for being part of the PTA and for all the hours you have put in. You are very much appreciated by the Tauriko School Community. A special mention must also go to Richard Nelson for his exceptional work as the MC on the night.

PTA SKIP-A-THON – Friday 11th August

Yes, you heard it right! We’re bringing back skipping in Term 3!

For the past two years the PTA have held a Knowledgeathon and a Spellathon and both have been very successful fundraisers. We would like to hold another 'athon' this year and thought what better way than to bring back a good ole fashion Skipathon!

Our aim is to have students skipping for 5 hours continuously throughout the day. The entire school will, at scheduled times, take part in the in the Skipathon, there will be fun, music and new skills learnt whether your child chooses to obtain sponsorship or not.

Students have already begun practicing their skipping skills at school with their classmates. So, we’re well on our way for a fun day of skipping.

All the information you’ll need to know about the Skipathon will be included in the launch on Tuesday 18th July. Students will have just over 3 weeks to seek sponsorship via a webpage set up by the PTA and Raise It. It will be super easy we promise.

There will be top 3 individual fundraiser prizes, a top Year 0-4 class and a top Year 5-8 class fundraiser prize of a special class lunch and lots of spot prizes in the lead up for those who take part in gaining sponsorship.

Funds raised will go towards the purchase of a shade sail that will go between Room 9 &12, along with new seating.

Thank you to everyone for supporting PTA run events!
