Spotlight on Sport...

Hayley Coleman —

With the winter team sports well underway this term we have also seen some great results in the area of running and swimming.

SWIMMING

26 June 2022

Austin, Tahlia and Riley were selected by Liz Van Welie Aquatics Club to race in the BOP Swimming Champs against Papamoa, Rotorua, Mount Maunganui, Whakatane and Evolution (Otumoetai/Greerton). All 3 were amazing and came away with placing in most events.

Such a great representation from Tauriko School.

West Cluster Cross Country

Congratulations to the following Tauriko runners who qualified to compete in the Western Bay of Plentry cross country event held at Waipuna Park on the 21st June 2022: Taylor Brill, Austin Campion, Ollie Fergus, Kase Wallis, Ben Brown and Riley Forrest. The team are pictured below in the West Cluster team colours.

It was a brilliant day at the WBOP Cross country for the Tauriko School students, they all pushed themselves and came away with great results.

A special shout out to Riley Forrest who crossed the finish line in 10th place qualifying to compete at the Bay of Plenty Cross Country Champs.

GYMNASTICS SCHOOLS FESTIVAL 2022

Wow, Tauriko School definitely showed what they have to offer at the Gymnastics Schools Festival held at Argos at the end of Term 2.

Over 3 weeks, we had all levels of gymnasts and trampolinists competing against schools from Waihi to Papamoa. The team outperformed themselves coming away with results superseding our expectations, with all students coming away with at least 1 gold ribbon, the highest score given out at the competition.

I could not have been happier watching our students perform at their best and have fun doing it and I was so proud of the support they gave each other.

Well done team, you should be very proud of yourselves.
