Tauriko School Annual Cross Country

Hayley Coleman —

We were blessed with a rain free day and our annual cross country events were able to go ahead!

Our annual running events took place last week with a group of 58 runners heading to Waipuna for the competitive event. Thanks to all of our supportive families that were able to support us with transport to and from Waipuna park on Monday - your help is truely appreciated.

Back at Tauriko school we held school fun run where the children could have fun moving their bodies around the track, over and through a variety of obstacles.

All of our tamariki showed great spirit and perseverance as they ran, jumped, twisted and turned around the field.

Student Voice:

Austin Campion (Year 6): "The course at Waipuna was really fun and really challenging. I came in first place. I am looking to running at West Cluster on Thursday."

Taylor Brill (Year 6): "I entered the competitive race this year at Waipuna. It was really challenging and long. I was proud of my efforts in the slippery mud. The steep hill was the hardest.

Liam Fitch (Year 6): "This year the school fun run had lots of different obstacles like hay bales and zig zags and tyres. I did 3 laps altogether. I found it fun - my favourite part was the hay bales."

Leo Brown (Year 4): "I found the track sort of hard. The hill was the hardest part. I am looking forward to running in the West Cluster race on Thursday at Gate Pa School".

Brodie Dunphy (Year 3): "I liked the curly track and the hay bales. I had a fun run."

Lucynytah Aluesi (Year 7): "The fun run was really fun. The House relay was exciting to watch."

Koen Jonson (Year 2) : "I thought the cross country was really fun because I got to run around and I like to run around. My favourite part was jumping over the hay bales".

Tyler Grey (Year 4): "My favourite part was the mega steep hill, my legs felt like they were on fire! I love running."
