Spotlight on Sport

Jolene Nelson —

Term 2 is always a big term for sport and this year has been no exception. Most of the Term 2 sports are continuing through into Term 3.

However for years 0-4  Sports Time is offering after school sessions to take place on a Thursday in Term 3. These sessions go for an eight week period (from 2nd August to 20th September) and give children a taster of a number of different sports.  For Term 3,  Athletics, Basketball, Dodgeball and Hockey will each be a focus for a session and Football and Rippa Rugby will be a focus for two sessions.

The cost is $75 and registrations are now open on kindo.   Registrations close on the 25th July.   If you would prefer to register/pay manually, hard copy registration forms are available at the office.  For Sports, Kindo is a great way of registering and for most registrations it is a smooth process, however please note that administrators are not aware of your registration unless payment is made - it works just like online shopping in that if the item is still in your cart without being paid, it hasn't been processed.

A flyer will be sent home later in the week with some information for Sports Time.

Later in Term 3 information will be distributed for what options are available for Term 4.

Duathlon

Thank you to those who registered for the Western Bay Primary Schools Duathlon on the 14th August 2018.  Unfortunately, as advised through a notice sent home last week, the event has had to be cancelled, however Sport Bay of Plenty are looking to hold this in 2019, so we will keep you posted.

Adventure Race

On Saturday 19th August 2018, Frazzled Kiwi at McLarens Falls, are holding an Adventure Race for families, school students and social adults.  It is a 2-3 hour adventure race on foot where participants look for check points and complete mystery activities.  Lots of mud water and fun! The cost is $25 per person and entries must be completed online at http://soakedinadventure.co.nz/frazzledkiwitauranga/ Entries close on Thursday 16th August.
