Spotlight on Sport

Jolene Nelson —

Welcome to the first edition of Spotlight on Sport for Tauriko School!   My name is Jolene Nelson and I have taken on the role of Sports Co-ordinator for 2018. Part of my role this year is going to be keeping you, the community, up-to-date with information that pops up during the term regarding sports. Any sports or events that we are aware of, such as club sport, or one-off events like a children’s triathlon, we will endeavour to keep you in the loop about through this page.

Term 1 Registrations

Registrations are now open for Term 1 and you hopefully you will have received an email on Wednesday outlining the available after school sports that Tauriko School will be entering teams into this term.

Sports available this term include:

• Rippa Rugby - Years 1-6

• Quick Rip - Years 7-8

• Flippa Ball – Year 3-6

• Water polo – Years 7-8

• Tennis coaching – Years 1-8

As with the start of each year, there is a tight turn around for registrations. Registrations need to be received by Wednesday 7th February 2018 at 12 noon.

You will see that the registration process has been altered for 2018, and is now aligned with Kindo, the school online shop. To register and pay, please sign into Kindo, (follow the direct link from the school website homepage or via https://shop.tgcl.co.nz/shop/ ) and answer the question prompts relative to your chosen sport/s to complete your registration.

Hard copy registration forms and payment methods (of cash or cheque) are available at the school office if required.

Please remember that teams cannot be entered without coaches and managers, so if you are able too, please help out your child’s team by volunteering. You don’t have to be an expert, just willing to encourage and guide warm-ups and games. Information and materials to support coaches and managers will be provided once teams are finalised.

If you have any questions about how the Tauriko School after school sports operate or what is involved, please do not hesitate to contact Jolene Nelson on 027 233 2676 or email sports@tauriko.school.nz
