Spotlight on Sport

Jolene Nelson —

Term 1 Sports have now wound up with Tennis, Sports Time, Flippaball, Water Polo and Rippa Rugby all finishing up in the past week.

Thank you to those parents who transported children to get to games (some weeks it definitely took longer than others towards the end of term!)  Also a big thank you to those parents and supporters who coached and managed the teams.  These teams cannot work without you and we very much appreciate your help.

Winter Sports

Overall, there has been great interest for Term 2 and 3 winter school sports teams with 119 registrations, with 14 teams being entered across the school for hockey, netball and basketball, of which 10 of these teams are from our senior school.  Just to put this in perspective, 9 teams were registered school wide in 2018.

A big thank you to all those who have raised their hands to help out with coaching, umpiring and managing.

There is still the odd space left in some netball and hockey teams, so don't hesitate to get in touch at sports@tauriko.school.nz or 027 233 2676 if your child is interested in playing netball or hockey next term and we will see if we can help out.
