Principal's Message

Suzanne Billington —

Kia Ora Koutou Katoa, Talofa Lava, Malo e Lelei, Ni Hao, Anyoung Haseyo, Konichi Wa, Gruetzi, Guten Tag, Bonjour, Ola, Hello.

A  very special start to the last term of our Centenary year happened this week with our Ag Day and Market Day.  I had many comments from our parent community about how wonderful this was this year as the animals that were shown were seen by all our students and the prize giving happened with our full school in attendance.

The exhibits were amazing and were very much getting back to what Agricultural Days are all about. The school grounds also look such fun with the scarecrows out and about in different areas.

The Market Day was also very much about the kids and they had so much fun. Thanks you to our hard working staff, PTA and parents who help to make the whole event such a wonderful celebration of our rural history every year.

There are few photos below, on facebook and in other areas of the newsletter for you to enjoy.

Our school driveway exit

Since I became aware that there were issues for the Hopping Family, our neighbours, around their shared driveway with the school I have been in touch with NZTA. NZTA have responded promptly, meeting with the family to try to resolve any issues we may have. Eventually, alterations to the driveway will improve this area for us all.

Could I please ask that our community remember that our driveway exit is the entry to the farm and that we respect our neighbours and help to maintain the positive relationship we have had with the Hopping family over many years.

School values

We are proud of our school values of innovation, excellence, integrity and respect. These are woven into the very fabric of our school and constantly support us to build the positive school culture that we have.  These values are on posters in every classroom, certificates are given out at each assembly in relation to these, teachers and parents use this language in conversations with students and they are on our school website for anyone to access.

As staff and parents we role model these values for our children every day in our interactions with the kids and in what they observe when they watch us interacting with each other as adults - in classrooms, in the school grounds, in the school office, on the side of the sports field and in our conversations about each other.

Together we are supporting our students to be the best they can be in acting with integrity, to strive for excellence, to be curious and take risks to try new things, and to show respect for themselves and others in all they do.  We all support our students knowing that it takes us all, as the village, to raise our children with great values.

The term ahead promises to be an exciting one with an upcoming Athletics Day for the whole school at the Domain in town, a full school art exhibition and Year 8 School Dance and dinner - but to name a few events! We also look forward to our school prize givings on Thursday 13 December when we celebrate our 2018 school year and student successes. Put the date in your calendars now and more detail will be out shortly.
