Tournament Week Successes

Tawa College —

Congratulations to all of our teams on a successful Winter Tournament Week!

1st XI Football Boys

Tournament week was an amazing experience for the boys football first team. This year, we didn’t travel away, playing our group stage football at Endeavour Park in Whitby. After playing our best football all year, we topped this group, qualifying us for a quarter final against HIBS. We kept our great form and won comfortably. We then travelled to Wakefield Park and beat Kapiti College to secure our place in the final against King's College. Despite an amazing performance from the team, King’s College won 1-0 after extra time. It was a game that could have gone either way. The team were disappointed not to win, but a silver medal was still a great showing.

First XI Girls' Football

The girls' First XI Football team enjoyed their experience at the Grant Jarvis Tournament in Palmerston North. After 2 losses in their first games, against the teams that went on to play in the grand final, the team went on to win their next three games. Their quarter-final, semi-final and final all went to penalty shootouts and the team finished on a high with a win to take 15th place. All 13 players can be very proud of how well they played and their positive, respectful conduct both on and off the field.

MVP for the tournament - Malia McIlraith (Y10).

Top goal scorer, with 7 goals in the tournament - Lily Campbell (Y12).

1st XI Boys Hockey

Coming off of a great season in Premier 1 the boys wanted to take tournament week head on. We quickly secured a spot in the top 8 but were unable to win our quarter finals. With the realisation of not being able to take home a medal, the boys shifted their objective onto making the most of a local tournament. Instead, we created fond memories that’ll last a lifetime.
