Te Aka Rīwai

Tū Māia —

We now have our own school app and throughout the month of February, each Whānau will be calling parents and caregivers in to kura to take you through the app and its awesomeness.

Irankarapte!

On the 9th of January, a small group of us hosted our Aynu Whānau at kura for two days. Five 15 year old students enjoyed their first trip to Aotearoa and Kayton Apirana, Ngahiraka Anderson, Hinepukohurangi Grey and Kimiora Honeycombe were fabulous kaitiaki.

The students who visited are all learners of the Aynu language-indigenous language of Japan. The group was led by Matua Kenji Sekine, Aynu langauge revitilisation expert.

They enjoyed all the Ngāti Manawa sights and finished off their stay with a delicious hākari at Kohutapu Lodge.

Ka nui te mihi ki ngā Uri nā koutou te kaupapa nei i whakarewa ki te taumata tiketike!

February 25-27

We will be hosting another big Aynu contingent at the end of the month. We are very excited to welcome this group of 16-20 Aynu whānau. I will give more detail regarding their trip in the next Tū Māia, stay tuned!
