日本語を勉強しましょう😊
#3 Language of Uri=Japanese language
日本語を勉強しましょう!-Me ako tātou i te reo Hapanihi!
Last week Uri in year 5-10 started learning Japanese with Whaea Li. All Uri came ready to participate, try new things and above all give it a go.
Japanese has 3 writing systems-Hiragana/ひらがな、Katakana/カタカナ、and Kanji/日本語。
Our goal in our first class was to learn all 46 Hiragana characters. The unique part about this is that our set uses Te Reo Māori as the base for learning not English. This resource was designed by Reera and Peraniko Bird who are also Kaiawhina our language hub.
Uri, year unsurprisingly easily learned all 46 hiragana and with daily practice will be writing in no time. Knowing Hiragana means they can read virtually anything written in Japanese!
The stand out Uri in this first class were mainly our tama! Fabulous tama mā! Some of our kōtiro also outdid themselves.
