Simon Moriarty —

Hi team, Welcome back to Term 4. I hope you all had an opportunity to spend some quality time with family and friends. To all new students and whānau who have started Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School this term, welcome. I know you and your children will have a great time at Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School.

COVID Update:

Earlier this week I sent out changes to the Education requirements as part of the fight against the COVID 19 Delta Variant.

In summary the changes are:

1. Wear a mask while you are on the school site.

2. Pick up & Drop off: Meet you children outside the classrooms. Do not enter classroom spaces when students are present.

3. Come into the office area, email or phone if you need to get a message to your children and/or meet with the classroom teacher.

4. Students 12 years or older need to wear a mask while travelling. For example to and from Technology.

Term 4 Events and Gatherings:

We will continue to keep you updated regarding the guidelines and decisions made regarding events and gatherings both inside and outside of the school. At this stage whole school assemblies and gatherings such as our Mihi Whakatau will not be held. Also no spectators are allowed at school events, such as Athletic Sports. This MAY also impact on our end of year assemblies, however we will continue to keep you updated as we receive more guidelines from the Ministry of Health.

Finally, we are in constant contact with organisers and outside providers regarding upcoming sports events or planned trips. We will let you know when we hear if these events will run or have to be cancelled.

2022 School Year:

Please refer to the articles within this newsletter if you would like to provide any additional information to assist us with the placement of your child(ren) for the 2022 school year OR if your child is not returning in 2022.

Finally as we enter Term 4, we are so incredibly proud of our tamariki and the way they are living by and growing their E Tū Tāngata mindset. An example of this was the amazing way our senior students supported the Pōhutukawa Athletic Sports. A massive thanks to our staff for continuing to role model this mindset.

Cheers

Simon
