Hi team. Welcome to HERO! We are delighted to launch our new communication and reporting system, Hero.

Hero has allowed Te Ahi Kaikomako Rolleston School to build an online environment that reflects our unique context. It enables teachers, and overtime, students, and families to view and share content anytime, anywhere on any device. The software is secure, easy to use and brings together all school-related information in one place.

We are excited about the features that Hero has to offer families. These include the ability for parents and caregivers to

• read posts relating to your child’s learning
• view information on your child’s progress and goals
• read school notices sent to the class or groups your child is part of
• respond to school notices such as surveys and trip permission requests
• view school term dates
• view your children's financial statements
• view a school calendar of events
• notify the school if your child is absent or late
• navigate to other school-related webpages - Newsletter, Website, School Facebook Page, Kindo Page
• customise your account by adding a profile image
• select how you wish to receive notifications

What you will be able to see and do NOW:

• read school notices sent to the class or groups your child is part of
• respond to school notices such as surveys and trip permission requests
• view school term dates
• view your children's financial statements
• view a school calendar of events
• notify the school if your child is absent or late
• navigate to other school-related webpages
• customise your account by adding a profile image
• select how you wish to receive notifications

What is coming up later this year:

Learning posts combined with curriculum information and goal-setting will form an online report designed to build year on year so that over time you will have access to written posts, work samples, and possibly images, video and helpful resources all in one place.

What will reporting look like at Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School?

When and how we report essentially won't change. You will still receive a mid-year and end year report which will have information of your children's:

• current learning & values goals 
• progress and achievement information for Reading, Writing & Maths
  
• teacher comments in Reading, Writing, Maths, Integrated Curriculum, School Contributions & a General Comment
• an opportunity at the end of Term 2 to meet with your children's teacher to discuss their learning face to face.

What will change is your child's Mid-Year and End-Year report will be sent via your own HERO Portal. No more hard copy reports, however a hard copy summary of your child's report can be printed by yourself or on request from the office.

COMMUNICATION

The majority of communication will be sent out via HERO App. We will streamline our lines of communication into the following methods:

* Individualised Communication - Face to face meetings, phone calls or emails.

* Group, Class or School-wide Communication - HERO App. Community Feed, School Facebook Page (accessed through HERO App.), Newsletter (accessed through HERO App.), Website, or at times email or hard copy notice.

* Celebrating Student Success - School Facebook Page (accessed through HERO App.), Newsletter (accessed through HERO App.)

CURRENT ROLLESTON SCHOOL APP.

As a result we will know longer need the Rolleston School App. WE WILL NO LONGER USE THE OLD ROLLESTON SCHOOL APP. FROM THE END OF TERM 1. This will allow enough time for all parents/caregivers to set up new HERO Function.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO NOW

1. Go to this ARTICLE for instructions to download and set up HERO APP.

2. Have a PLAY....and set up & familarise yourself with:

• school notices such as surveys and trip permission requests
  
• view school term dates
• view a school calendar of events
• explore report an absence function
• navigate to other school-related webpages
• customise your account by adding a profile image
• select how you wish to receive notifications
