2023 Classroom Structure

Simon Moriarty —

Hi team. The 2022 finish line is coming into view.....slowly!!! We are now in a position to communicate with you next years structure, including welcoming some new staff as well as farewelling some of our amazing team.

2023 Staffing

Once again, 2023 is shaping up to be an exciting year at Te Ahi Kaikomako Rolleston School. We are incredibly excited about continuing to grow our strategic direction and school-wide values based around growing an E Tū Tāngata mindset. We have already done a significant amount of new planning in these areas and look forward to sharing these changes with you in the new year.

Te Ahi Kaikomako Rolleston School is such a large staff and each year we usually farewell existing staff members and welcome new staff to the Te Ahi Kaikomako Rolleston School team. Once again, we are lucky to maintain the majority of our amazing team.

Farewells

We farewell Mrs. Marion Young and Mrs. Pam Godfrey who are retiring after long tenures at Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School. Marion has guided the tamariki within Team Rata for a number of years, while Pam has fulfilled many roles within the school, most recently supporting our reading programmes and students whose english is a second language. Both Marion and Pam are deeply valued and highly respected educators and colleagues at Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School. They have both left a lasting legacy both at Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School and to the wider education profession. They will be deeply missed. We wish them well in their next adventures.

We also say goodbye to Mrs. Jane Baugh from Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School. Jane has taught across a number of age groups throughout the school and is well known for her dedication and kindness.  She is a shining light of our E Tū Tāngata mindset. Jane's next adventure takes her to Wigram Primary School where she will initially be working full-time in Term 1 and then in a part-time capacity after that.

We also farewell (for the time being) Mrs. Mel Falkingham who will be embarking on Motherhood 2.0. We wish Mel and her whānau all the best and can't wait to see her back in 2024.

We also farewell Sam Hilton-Hall one of our amazing Teacher Aides. Sam is heading off to complete her teacher training. We wish her all the best.

Welcome

We are excited to welcome Miss Casey Brown to the Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School whānau. Casey has recently completed her teacher training at Dunedin University. Casey has a real passion for the outdoors, sports, and relating to people. We are looking forward to having Casey in the school next week as she meets her new class as part of our Transitions Programme.

2023 Structure

With the majority of the teaching team confirmed for 2023, I have inserted the following table below. This highlights what team our new and existing staff will be working in next year. Like always, due to numbers, some of our amazing staff will be bringing their skills to another team within the school.

With Mel Falkingham away next year we have decided to combine the Year 0-2 Teams (Rata and Kowhai) as one team next year. This team will be called Team Rata and will be led by the amazing Ceridwen Goodwin. This will mean some of our Yr 1 students will be working in the Studio Block area. However, one massive benefit of this structure is that all students across the 2023 Rata Team (Yr 0-2) will be able to play and interact in both the Rata Playground and the Studio Court area.

We will communicate the classes the teaching team will be working in prior to the end of the 2022 year as part of next week's Transition Programme. We are incredibly excited about the 2023 teaching team and the opportunities and skills we can offer the students of Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School.
